[SPOILER ALERT!!!] I'm going to write about this game Odin Sphere, and it will include a little bit of what happens in the story. If you don't wish to know what happens in the game, don't read the comment below.
I'd been wanting to do this drawing for a very long time. I abstained, however, because there were already so many wonderful artworks out there, both official and fan-made. I knew I'd end up trying too hard and end up dissatisfied with the drawing if I did one right then. Well, I'm not totally satisfied with the colors in this one, but I'm happy that the feeling I wanted to express came out. I LOVE this game. Even now that my PS2's busted and the game DVD itself is so scratched that it wouldn't play anyway, I still love it. That's not saying that this is the perfect game; in fact, this game has several flaws. But despite those shortcomings, this is a game that will remain as one of the most memorable gaming experiences, all my life. The beautiful art, incredible character animation, awesome sound, attention to detail in the background, and intricate storyline, all combined to produce a grand opera feel to the whole game. I like all of the characters in this game, but particulary the Oswald and Gwendolyn pair. I think they make such a beautiful couple. Now, I normally don't really like the male hero characters, because sooner of later they end up getting the girl I grow to like. Cloud Strife? "Meh. You're not satisfied with Aerith, you had to get Tifa, too, you greedy bas#%$&?!" Fei Fong Wong? "Hate him! Give me back my Elly!" Like that. I mean, I still like them as the main character, but other than that... "Meh." But Oswald is an exception. I think he's just too cool. Loyal, brave, skilled, and honorable. And he's so fast and powerful in the game play! The only thing I don't like playing as him is the very limited amount of time he has in transformation. I loooove transforming characters, but Oswald's dark form lasts like two seconds!! I wish they had made it last longer as he gained levels. And Gwen's such a lovely character. She's a warrior, so she can definitely handle herself, but also has this vulerable side that you just want to... AHhh!!! Together with Oswald, they're the couple that I just want to cheer, and hope they live happily ever after. Other than those two, Velvet's my favorite. Very sexy. Too bad she's not very strong in the game. Mercedes started out like a brat, but grew on me. She's cute. Last, and the least, Cornelius. Furry rabbit! I just... didn't know what to make of him. I still liked him in the end, though. Of course, I still hate him a little for stealing Velvet's heart but, oh well.
Is it worth Odin Sphere? I like RPG's and i'm just thinking of getting it. It makes me doubt because it is 2D, though, if i get a good opinion of it, maybe i get it.
The picture is great. The composition lacks a bit of background, just to fill a bit, and that it doesn't have the sense that everything is in the right, IMO, but i like it

I am Alpha and Omega The begining and the end, The first and the last.
Really gorgeous work~! I bought my brother Odin Sphere a few christmas's ago and kinda wanted to play it for myself. I really loved the character art and game styling. Maybe I'll try it out ^^
Thank you^^ I felt that everything's positioned on the right side, too. I did edit another composition that's a little more balanced, but decided to post this one after all, since it's the original. I guess I could do like you suggested and add some background later.
To get or not to get Odin Sphere... that's a tough one. I went to some forums, and opinions are divided. My personal thoughts are that this game is still worth getting. Simply for the graphics, sounds, story, and characters, if nothing else. Especially the graphics. They're breathtaking. I'll list some pros and cons you can find people discussing, so you'll know what you're getting. I'll focus more on the negetive side, though, since the pros are kind of obvious. Pros: graphics, music, sound, story, character Cons: battle system, item system, slow down, repetitive map design
First, the battle system: It plays like a beat-them-up. One button to attack, one to jump... The problem most people have with the attack is that there's a power gauge, so you can only attack a limited number of times. Once you run out of power, your character gets dizzy, and cannot act until the power is refilled(automatically over time). That kinda makes the game a little frustrated, since you'll have to repeat attacking and running away to wait for the gauge to refill. Items: You can only carry very small number of items in your inventory, and there's no way to store the extras. But you will get more bags later, allowing you to carry more items. Personally, I didn't see this as a problem, since you don't really need more items than you can carry. Slow down: Wow. Normally, you won't get this, but when you're fighting a boss... and the bosses are HUGE! the game being 2D with so many constantly moving parts... the slowdown's horrific, really. Map design: You play a total of five characters individually, so you will be revisiting the same maps five times. And the map designs aren't complicated to start with, so it could get repetitive towards the end. The background art is superb, though, so I didn't mind this too much.
That's about it. If you think those flaws will bug you too much, it's probably not worth buying the game, especially if you don't like 2D, because that's supposed to be the best part about this game.
Thank you~ ^^ I really love the characters and colors in Odin Sphere. Even from the opening scene, it was like I was showered with optical bliss. "Damn, those're sprites?!" Many say that the play mechanics can get a little frustrating at times, but I think it's still a great game. If the play system really feels like it's not for you, I'd still recommend that you at least watch a few of the cut-scene movies(provided that your brother has the game's clear data).

The game's official arts are very beautiful, if you don't mind searching online.
